Why I'm running

A lifelong Dallas County resident fighting for your financial future

  • "Growing up in a working-class family in Oak Cliff taught me the value of every dollar. I became a treasury professional because I believe public money should work as hard as the people who earned it."

    — Sarah Mitchell

I was born and raised in Oak Cliff, Dallas. My mother worked as a school nurse at Dallas ISD. My father drove a county maintenance truck for 28 years. Neither complained about taxes, they believed in what those taxes were supposed to build.

What they never imagined was that public money could sit idle, be invested poorly, or be mismanaged by officials without the expertise to handle it. I became a treasury and investment professional because government has a duty to make every public dollar work as hard as possible for the people who paid it.
